THE HUMAN RESOURCE ENVIRONMENT
The Human Resource Environment and its changing conditions in a certain company or organization deals with several factors in Economics, Political, Legal and Social even Technological functions of business. Due to the changing environment the Human Resource Management must think of ways to adopt and handle such conditions so that the company they represent will always be updated to the changing phase of business. The question is how these factors can influence such business and their practices if they have considered to responsibly jumping into the idea that these factors has been dictating? Will the company grow or fail? It is therefore up to the Human Resource Management how they can formulate or substantiate the idea.
The Economic consideration of certain organization or business may answer the question in putting up resources or expansion or downsizing of labor force, for example in certain country who suffered literally inflation and interest rate problem has something to do with human resource environment. This will dictate them to tighten up their budget in manpower since the buying capacity of the public is low but economically speaking if the inflation is normal, chances are the human resource environment consideration is stable and may even lead to growth path in considering business expansion and additional labor force. Hiring more employees and better salary is expected.
If the economy of a certain country will collapse therefore labor shortages can be easily predicted. In many countries in Asia many labor workers including domestic helpers, professionals and skilled workers have been looking for work from other countries this is a manifestation that the human resource environment and their business is also experiencing an economic turmoil that is very easy to identify in their countries. Some Human Resource Management may even take advantage of this situation to really extract applicants because of economic situations. Nepotism and Favoritism, overworking and underpaid has always a mistake in most problematic countries that do not have such law in human resource management, this human resource environmental conditions takes place just to make ends meet in their society.
Political consideration in Human Resource Environment can also affect the company legally if they are controlled by legislative body. Politics has always been a consideration in Human Resource conditions, they must make sure the government is given importance in tax payment, employee’s benefits such as salaries and wages must be considered by human resource in order to develop a strong political viability of their business and their people. If the human resource methodology does not politically comply, the company can suffer from serious damages in their practices. Most countries has their legal rights to accuse and close down company who do not take orders from the government and this is just right since companies does earn in their business practices and so thus their employees must also grow.
The changing social patterns, lifestyle of the people, their attitudes even their religious beliefs can be clearly identify so thus the human resource environment is requiring new skills, maximizing risk of employees, qualification including education, demographic and other social consideration has also been changing. The Human Resource Management must be flexible enough to forecast the changing social pattern that can highly affect their business. In Dubai, most of their natives are usually very conservative during the 80’s but they have socially accepted the culture of western society that also changes their belief in conservatism. The people also dressed up the way the western people does and so the business and the human resource environment have also changed dramatically, people are no longer conservative. Products and services find their way in selling this stuff in their countries.
Technology and Globalization is probably the main focus of human resource environmental changes. The revolution of the Information Superhighway have largely change the manner the human resource operate where most of their required employees are needed to learn to use computers, mobile, telephone and other hi tech gadgets in order to fit for a job. Employees must consider the virtual reality that is constantly changing in most of the industries, look around and you can see the technology and modernization revolution that is changing our world.
The implication of human resource environment to the changing trend has also lead to a more flexible and fast pace industry where workers are diversified and can be hired from other countries easily through the internet. The Modernization and technology somehow created many jobs in system technology and all institutions including schools, government, businesses etc. has been affected in this Information and Communication Technology revolution. In relation to human resource environment they can create a stronger system in management, record keeping, employee’s evaluation and other human resource clerical and disciplinary functions and most of all international relationship and trade that expanded their business.
