UNIT OBJECTIVES …   ·       Develop and apply common business skills in an IT context. ·       Understand the nexus between business knowledge and IT professional practice at operational and strategic levels within a global context.     ASSESSMENT   Each individual student will write an essay of 3000 words. You are to present a summary of two projects in which you have been involved. The first project is one that you consider to have “succeeded”, and the second project is one that you consider to have “failed”. Both projects that you present for this assignment need to include a team approach.   You are to present a summary of each of these two projects. The summary should include the core project management functions from the project management framework. You may include facilitating functions from the project management framework if you wish. You are to include a discussion as to why you think the project was a “success” or “failure”.   In addition, you are to include a discussion of your role in the project, and how your own personal, management or learning style influenced your role and participation in the project. You should include a discussion of team dynamics and your own involvement and influence in this process.   You are then to conclude the report with a summary section of the difference between a project that was a success and one that was a failure, and to include a brief summary of your role in both projects.   You are reminded to read the “Plagiarism” section of the unit description. Your essay should be a synthesis of ideas from a variety of sources expressed in your own words. You must not copy blocks of text from either printed or electronic sources.   All reports must us the APA referencing style. All quotations must be referenced in an approved academic style (APA). Reports are to be presented in hard copy in size 12 Arial Font and double spaced.    You should include a list of references that are cited in the essay.
