Aviation: A powered airplane towed a glider into the air to an altitude of 1000 m and then let it go. The glider dropped 60 m into a thermal (rising bubbles of warn air) which took up 2200m. Then it glided down 200m into another thermal. Then the glider rose of 1700 m. What was the altitude of the glider?

Solution:

1000 m – 60 m + 2200m – 200m  + 1700m  = 4, 640m
