Unit 5
Discussion Board
Instruction refers to the method of teaching and the learning activities that are used in order to help the students to master the content and objectives that were specified by the curriculum, at the same time, attain the standards that have been prescribed. On the other hand, assessment is the means of measuring the outcome of education and the achievement of students regarding the vitality of knowledge and competencies (Seel & Dijkstra, 2004, p. 26). It is important to align instruction and assessment to learning theories because it can benefit both students and teachers.
Students will be able to learn more because the instruction is focused and they are assessed on what are taught. On the other hand, teachers are also able to focus, because they will be able to make the best use of their time. On the other hand, because of the fact that assessment involves the process of real learning, they can integrate assessment into daily instruction and classroom activities, with connection to the learning theory (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Education Place, n.d.). This is important because different learning theory exhibit different characteristics which can affect the implementation of instruction and assessment.
Thus, it can be supported by educational paradigm because it serve as an important medium in connecting instruction and assessment method, particularly the digital age educational paradigm via the use of the Internet and other important educational technology, which enables the learners and the instructors to be connected, thus open opportunities for feedback.
