Laetitia Marie Laure Casta the French supermodel was born in Pont – Audemer, Normandy France in May 11, 1978; daughter of Line Bilin who is from Normandy and Dominique Casta from Corsica. They are three siblings, an older brother, Jean Baptiste and of course her younger sister, Marie-Ange who is now following her footsteps in the industry.
Laetitia Casta was discovered by a photographer, during a family gathering in his father’s town when she was fifteen. Her parents were o afraid and they don’t want her to be a model because she was still too young. But she likes to pose in front of the camera that’s why her father agreed to her passion. She became the face of L’oreal, Dior and Chanel. She was also featured in Guess Jeans, Miu Miu, XOXO and Tommy Hilfiger ad. She was the cover girl of over 100 magazines including Victoria’s Secret catalogs, ELLE magazine and Vogue magazine. Casta also appeared in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues in three consecutive years. Now, she is the face of Notorious, the newest fragrant of Ralph Lauren. She opens the Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2010 fashion show.
Laetitia is also an actress. She has done over 20 films since 1999. Her first movie was Asterix et Obelix contre Cesar which she played as Falbala a potential love interest of Obelix which is portrayed by actor Gerard Depardieu. Her movie Les Ames Fortes which was directed by Raoul Ruiz was an official selection in Cannes Film Festival last 2001. People love her as Brigette Bardot in the movie Serge Gainsbourg, vie heroique which she was nominated for a Cesar Award for Best Supporting Actress. She was also nominated for Golden Swann for the Best Actress in the movie Nes en 68 last 2008.
Casta just does not appear in movies; she is also prominently featured in some music videos. In 1999, she was presented in the video of Chris Isaak song, “Baby did a Bad, Bad Thing!” This has two versions the censored and the uncensored one. It was ranked #28 on VH1’s 50 Sexiest Video Moments because Casta is seen in a motel room just wearing sexy lingerie. Brand New, a popular alternative rock band also wrote a song which she was the subject. The song was entitled “Magazines”. And her latest music video appearance was in Rihanna’s “Te Amo” last 2010, which she played the part as Rihanna’s lover.
Back in 1999, Association des Maires de France ordered a national survey to decide who should be next model for bust of Marianne, figurative symbol of the French Republic, which stands include every French town hall, and Laetitia Casta ranked first in the said survey. In this process each mayor chooses which bust he wants for his town, because Marianne’s embodiments are changed frequently. And because of her characters Brigette Bardot and Catherine Deneuve she is popular among French mayor. She became a Marianne since January of 2000 and she held the title for ten years. Marraine is a symbol of liberty in French republic.
She also has controversies, like when she was chosen as a Marianne she relocated at London. It was said that she was trying to escape taxes, which French celebrities are often criticized by journalist. But she cleared that her move was because of some professional reasons.
Aside from being nominated in several award giving bodies through film, she was also recognized because of her beauty and sexy body. In 2010 she ranked # 11 on People Stairs Top 10 Most Beautiful Women, and Ranked # 1 on Askmen.com for Top 50 Most Beautiful Women consecutively.
She also has a book entitled Laetitia Casta. It was all about her from the beginning of her career to her recent achievements during 1999. It was released in the said year. And that time she was only twenty – one years old.
Casta has a daughter, Sahteene who is turning 10 this October 19, from her former boyfriend Stephane Sednaoui. She is now engaged to Italian actor Stefano Accorsi. They already have two children, a son named Orlando who was born on 21st of September 2006 and a daughter named Athena, who was born on August 29, 2009.
