This is report on the interview by the author of this paper in relation to diversity. This paper will discuss about the experience of the interviewee. The experiences were about the limitations he encountered because of his race and religion. A conclusion will end this paper, which will provide for the comments and some analysis of the author.

The name of the interviewee is Mr. Devon Russell Thomas. He is a friend of the authors father way back in college. Mr. Thomas is an African and migrated to Hong Kong after a failure in trying a better life in United States of America. He was successful in Hong Kong, in contrast to the life he had in the US. This interview will dwell upon his experience in America. The next section is the summary of the interview.

Summary of the Interview

According to Aristotle, man is a rational, emotional, and political being. From this note, it is right to say by the author of this paper that Mr. Thomas indeed was just as the best example of what Aristotle has said. Mr. Thomas was born in Africa but because of scarcity of resources in his country of origin, he tried his luck in the US. However, there are more failures that is present in US rather in Africa.

His experience is that when he applied as a general manager in a known fast food chain in the US. Mr. Thomas said that he was excited to get the job because the salary is so well and he enjoys interacting with people. He also knows that the company is the one that will give him an opportunity. The said company allowed him to take the exam and he passed and was qualified for an interview. After the interview, Mr. Thomas shared that he thought that he would get the position because the interviewer seemed to be impressed. The interviewer said to wait for their call whether he is accepted or not. Mr. Thomas waited for the said company’s call and even did not try his luck to other companies. After four months, he called the company and inquired about his application, only to learn that he was not qualified because he is black. Conclusion

According to Cross (2000), in the history of the United States, white men have been and continue to be the dominant to be the dominant group. This statement by Cross may seemed to be a hasty generalization but nevertheless life especially work in the US is an opportunity only to its citizen with a white/fair complexion.

This should be the case because the world must not be divided because of race, color of the skin or even culture. The matter that will control the qualification of a person is one’s potential and credibility over a certain subject matter. The eyes may perceive that a person is white as he is the best one, but the eyes must not only see what is on the external side. Diversity and discrimination must not have any vital role in the lives of the people.
