Introduction

Allergies or allergic reactions are abnormal responses to normally harmless foreign substances in our body that would sometimes even lead to life threatening situation.  Our body has developed a sophisticated system in screening, identifying, and destroying foreign microorganisms before they cause rigorous damage to the human body.  This system acts as a biological warfare protecting our body from harsh invasion of harmful microorganisms.  It acts as our body shield from potential diseases caused from these destructive and damaging microorganisms within our body.  This is our Immune System.

There is a close relevance and direct link connecting our immune system and allergy.  For the fact of the matter that immune system protects us from harmful microorganisms’ invasion, it wouldn’t bring fort only to fight those harmful and dangerous ones.  Once it detects foreign cells or molecules, the system automatically reacts to that specific invader, harmful or not.  Such natural immune system reaction to foreign microorganisms doesn’t have control on whether the invading foreign cells are harmful or not.  Consequently, this would instead develop into an allergy.  Allergies are undesirable effects of an aggressive immune system response against harmless organisms.  It would be nice to hear that medical science then developed allergens (allergy medicines) for this unwanted effects of aggressive immune response.

How does treatment of allergies works?

Science has produced an allergy medicine called Allegra and is widely prescribed by doctors nowadays.  Allegra is believed to relieve seasonal allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itchy, watery eyes.

Allegra is a powerful and non-sedating antihistamine.  Histamine is a chemical in our body that causes allergy symptoms.  To relieve allergy symptoms such as those stated above, Allegra works by blocking the effect of histamine.

In cases like nasal congestion, a specialized kind of Allegra, the Allegra-D 12 Hour, combines a powerful antihistamine with a nasal decongestant.  It would be very important to follow the specified prescription of the doctor with regards to the regularity of taking Allegra even though your body starts to feel better.  Skipping the suggested time between doses might give a chance for the symptoms to get worse.  Allegra is a powerful allergy medicine to common colds and offers a quick 60-minute relief of allergy symptoms after taking a dose.

There are actually four allergy medicines developed by far.  The Allegra, Claritin, Clarinex, and Zyrtec.  Not surprisingly, these allergy medicines are of the same use and function in relieving allergy symptoms.  It would be the doctor’s discretion as to what to prescribe taking into consideration the patient’s bodily reaction to each of the four allergy medicines.
