In the case of this particular patient, major depression and depressive symptoms are the most psychosocial challenges that the patient will experience as well as the patient’s family.   It is most important to know that depressive symptoms of the diabetic patients are more prevalent among patients who do not comply with the dietary recommendations, exercise and medication in take.  Correspondingly, the Erickson’s theory is related to Jason’s case; the theory emphasized on the growing sense of self esteem and maturity of any individual. The development of his feelings of self-confidence and competence are gradually formed and developed inside him.   In the same fashion, the behavior of the society towards him/her is greatly relevant to his continuous maturity and sense of ego.  But, if the time comes that any conflict arises in his life such as family problem, chronic disease, or any circumstance that he could not overcome or resolve; there would be a great impact that stops or hinders to his  proper  personality and character growth as well as it brings health problems and maladjustment  to  his being.
