DOMINATED LANGUAGES USED BY MALE OVER FEMALE IN ARAB WORLD

Male domination against women may be cause by socio cultural issues, political preferences and religious belief, in the Arab World where male domination is extremely exercised and women are set aside to play their entire life as a housewife or mother and nothing more. Women are not allowed to be engage in political or social function and position as practiced by men; they are even discouraged to attend a high education and technical skills improvement.

This has been their primitive attitude in mistreating women that they can be equally progressive than men. Women are almost treated as a servant and not just wife since they must always be behind men and submit to them in every ways, they are taught that their role in life is to serve the men.

Male domination in the Arab world still exist in their linguistic approach where male can use languages that female cannot or they may be condemn even to death to use such words. This Patriarchal context where male are highly excellent than female oppose the opportunity of women to express their emotion to men and so they are taught to simply follow the word of men. This may be defined as androcentricity in Arabic since the grammar they used are usually presented in androcentric terms.

These are some of the following example of words that shows favor to the domination of men and delimits women to express ideas not necessary opposing them to say the word but these words are specially assigned to men rather than women.         Al-Mudhkkar wa Al-Mu’annath’s book by Ibn-Al Anbari’s do not claim that this patterns may or may not be related in Arab culture but still exist in dominant world of men. Ibn-Al Anbari’s says in his writings that better intensify abundance should is always associated in men’s languages. Additionally love or lovers associated in courtship should only be used by men since love is associated with emotion and feelings that only men are allowed to express.

Expectedly only men can exploit the women in their sexual affairs and women are not suppose to exploit or exercise intimacy during their intercourse therefore sex is another language to think about. Here are other words that proves that male domination is when a man says qaa? im or stand, qaac,id to sit that women may not always understand such term and thereby claims that she was being taught of something and therefore should follow such words.

Ibn Al-Anbari’s intention was to point out that women are not knowledgeable about these words and therefore disregarded and treated like of those animals in the farm. This known old cultural practice is still prevalent standard practice in most Arab countries. Ideally these words give an extreme favoritism over men whereby they are the priority over women. This gender sensitivity and grammatical practices often led to traditional passing of beliefs that led the women to agree to exercise such misfortune.

Even the Arab Islamic Patriarchy believe that women are just a subordinate to men and therefore do not have the rights to claim such grammatical correction that will favor them to deny such words. This infliction shows that male do not just dominate female but they overpower them to possess strength and position over gender issues. It is a supreme test of symbolic truth that men according to their grammatical history that it is the domination of men will only fulfill their social, cultural and historical faith which is definitely absurd and abruptly unfair in gender.

This sarcastic belief exposes the power of men to held position in every way and every condition of whatever possession they may have including their wife’s decision in life. Another example is the grammatical expression of faith in public should be dominated by men, let say cabdu rabbih “God’s servant” should only be used in public by men although cabdatu rabbih “God’s female servant” is its female counterpart cannot be used totally even in public. Friday prayers are for men while only private rituals are for women, we can presume that women cannot lead the prayer in a public endeavor but only men.

In an overall hypothesis that most words that are being dominated by men over women are due to the fact that men are public and women should be private and therefore cannot exercise their rights to speak vocally to people. Therefore women may need to follow and take the words in public and its refusal is a disgrace to their family, this may even cause a violation of faith that may lead to undesirable punishment.
