Proposal

Every student should submit some form of project proposal to his or her senior advisor.  The minimum length of the proposal should be at least one page detailing plans for the project.

Project Report Form

The American Psychological Association Publication Manual, latest edition, is the preferred authority for style, especially in citation and reference.

1.                  ORDER OF THE CONTENTS

a.       Title Page

b.      Approval Page

c.       Abstract

d.      Acknowledgements*

e.       Table of contents

f.       List of Tables with page references*

g.      List of Figures with page preferences*

h.      Text

i.        Exhibits (Tables, Figures, Graphs, Photographs, etc. that are not presented within text of report itself)

j.        Bibliography

k.      Appendices

2.                  Charts tables and graphs

a.       Charts, table’s graphs and figures that are lager than the standard report page must be folded to fit within the project report format.  The folded edge must be at least ¾ of an inch less than the outer edge of the regular report page.

b.      Lettering on graphs and charts, if handwritten, must be done in black ink.  All data should be word-processed or typed

c.       Photographic duplication is permissible.  The copies should be clean and unblemished and made on 20lb. Bond paper with 25% or more cotton fiber.

d.      Table headings are usually above the table in the folding form:

Table 1

NUMBER OF COLLAGES REPRESENTED

e.       Figure titles are usually below the figures in the following form:

Figure 1. Number of Students Enrolled

f.       Table headings may be below the table and figure titles may be above the figure.  However the format chosen must be used consistently throughout the entire project.

3.                  Appendices

Lists of terms, definitions, questionnaires, and other supplemental information are useful, but not essential to the body of the project report included in the appendix

After the appendix is prepared an unnumbered page (slip sheet) should be inserted with APPENDIX or APPENDICES centered about 1/3 down the page.  For example, if the last page of the bibliography were page 140, the first page of the appendix would be 141, with no allowance for a number of the slip-sheet between.

Word Processing/Typing Guidelines

  • Paper – 20lb. Bond paper

  • Font/type space – (Arial, times new Roman, etc) in font size 12

  • Spacing – double

  • Margins – 1 inch both sides, text should be block style (flush to the left side with spaces between paragraphs)  or with standard indentations (partial block style) to indicate the beginning of a new paragraph.

  • Pagination – Pages would be numbered, including bibliography and appendices, with numbers only (for example” 23, not p.23)
