Job Description
To co-ordinate and manage the QBI Finance function and responsibility area, which includes ensuring the integrity of financial systems, producing accurate and timely financial information for Organization Management and Board, and ensuring compliance to statutory regulations and accounting standards.

Position objective
This position is primarily responsible for managing and operating the QBI’s financial activities including strategic financial management and budgeting. This position provides senior level support to the Director and Deputy Director.

The key outcome of this position is to provide senior level support to the Director and Deputy Director in terms of financial management.
Key performance indicators and
Competency Requirements
Ø Degree in commerce, business or related field, with specialization in accounting and/or financial management or an equivalent combination of education and/or training and experience
Ø Substantial financial experience in a large organization with a focus on financial management and operation.
Ø Experience with the University’s financial and personnel administrative systems.
Ø A high level of knowledge and proficiency with information technology, including experience and competence in using a variety of enquiry, accounting, spreadsheet, database, word processing, email and Internet software
Ø Ability to develop financial reports
Ø Ability to formulate and develop financial policy and procedures for a new Institute, within the constraints of wider policy and legislative requirements
Ø Sound knowledge of the University’s financial policies and procedures or a demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge
Ø Ability to operate independently within established framework and guidelines
Ø Ability to prioritize competing work demands and meet deadlines
Ø Experience supervising staff
Ø Ability to provide timely financial advice to management
Ø Working knowledge of the University administrative systems: DA Link, Business Objectives, Masterpiece Financials
Ø High level interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
Ø Accuracy and attention to detail
Ø Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-team environment
Ø Strong orientation to the provision of quality client service

Summary
The job title for this position is Finance Manager which is responsible in budget preparation, finance reporting and monitoring. Aside from this, the Finance manager will be engaged in financial processes and creating policies, procedures and training for Queensland Brain Institute (QBI).
