1. Relate to your work environment and share your views on the tasks that can be implemented by the management to positively impact the employee attitudes and behavior.

One activity that should be implemented is the development of teamwork (Morley and Hearty, 1995) by coordinating the efforts of the different working groups into a holistic organization output identifying the importance of the contribution of every individual and group. Teamwork is achieved through effective communications (Rowell et. al, 1998) within working teams and between the different teams. Employees exhibit positive attitude when their contribution to the organization is appreciated. Another activity is the redesign of the work of employees (Hickman and Oldham, 1998) so that skills and expertise are matched with their work coupled with the enhancement of the skills and knowledge of employees through continued academic learning and employee training. Management should regularly evaluate the performance of employees to determine whether the work assigned to each employee is able to optimize the output potential of the employee. Matching skills with assigned work enables employees to always perform their best resulting to job enrichment. Another activity is developing autonomy and feedback system (Ross and Perry, 1999) to ensure that the problems and issues of employees are aired and addressed resulting to job satisfaction.

2. State your opinions whether emotions are helpful or harmful for organizations.

Emotions are a part of the human psyche. Thus, employees cannot be emotionally detached in the workplace. The organization should be able to provide an environment that transforms negative emotions into positive emotions and channels positive emotions towards the fulfillment of tasks. Negative emotions may not be entirely work-related. Family matters are sometimes brought into the workplace affecting the work of the employee. The company should develop the company culture of leaving personal problems at home. For organizations who value the emotional well-being of their employees, an in-house psychiatrist may be available to assist employees in channeling their emotions towards their personal and work enrichment. Communications between employees is also a way for channeling emotions. Developing programs that enhance the positive attitudes and behavior of employees leaves them satisfied so that positive emotions are high and the consequent work output is also excellent.

3. Discuss the pros and cons of traditional system of incentives and incentives based on customer satisfaction in a variety of industry.

Traditional incentive systems have a financial and legal basis. Traditional incentives include compensation based on hourly or salaried payment, the assignment of employees to narrowly specified jobs without rotation and teamwork as well as economics-based hiring and firing. Employees and workers are hired and terminated based on the needs of the company. This system is focused on the business and it offers a convenient and profit-oriented way of utilizing resources to produce the desired output. This system is also cost efficient since the company only compensates for completed tasks without any other obligation to employees. (Lawler, 1971) This system works in goods producing activities where the company only trains workers to do particular tasks in the production process and compensates the completion of the work making workers replaceable. However, the system does not work well in service industries where customer service develops over time. The company allocates time and effort in training employees to practice service delivery .
