CASE STUDY ON CHILD DEVELOPMENT AND ADOLESCENCE PERIOD

Psychological study shows that environmental, socio-cultural and a hereditary factor that varies in the life of a child has all contributed to the factors of how they are developed. Their physical attributes, cognitive thinking, social and emotional behavior has always been molded in the smallest unit of the society, it includes the family their immediate social contacts including their peers that largely benefited the overall contribution to shape the personality of a child.

All this factors including their cultural diversity and religion have their own psychological and sociological branches of studies to further identify the behavior of an individual and therefore attributes the characteristics to prove how a child function in the society. A child physical condition may change during their adolescence stage which psychologist considered a transition period. Adolescence of a male differs from female, and it may come in varying age or degree. Some children may experience adolescence as early as the age of 12 while some children may experience it on the latter part of their life.

A masculine may develop a physical strength and stamina because of imbalance hormonal changes, he may feel that his muscle grows bigger, his chest may expand and his voice changes in a lower tone knowing that his throat has an Adams apple. The secretion of body fluids may differ including overly perspiration and body odor. Hair may grow from different parts of his body including the armpit, mustache and legs.

His cognitive thinking pattern, attitude and feelings may also change variably through adulthood or maturity but not necessarily in the early stage of his adolescent but in the latter part of it. His emotion and feelings may also change irrationally; he may seem to feel that he is no longer a child but not much of an adult. During this time peer pressure and opposite sex attraction maybe extremely experience and therefore begins to feel conscious about his well being, his manner and physical outlook in life.

According to psychiatrist the masculine during pre adolescence is a normal stage that creates a confusion in a child’s mind since he may not be convince of one’s self and his worth, he may tried to idolize things and people around him and so his adulthood and maturity can be formed. Through this a child may learn to develop his identity that is why the role of a parent and guardian is highly critical during this stage.

On a Feminine side of puberty, physical changes may also occur during teenage years or later but usually female encounter more sensitive changes. Her breast and hips may grow, body fluid secretion may be abnormal including perspiration, and the monthly period which they may experience and may be confusing during the start. Her thinking pattern may also change since she maybe curious about his physical looks. During this time she may feel a stronger feeling of intimacy to opposite sex but this is normal.

Accordingly Female individual grows maturely earlier than male or depending on their experiences in life on how they are raised. She may also experience identity crisis or confusion of her own personality to also idolize people around her in search for her identity. During this time she may learn to develop her early principle patterns in life that

may usually resolve her confusion of her own self worth which she may constantly looking at. Again, this stage is critical during puberty stage and may require adult supervision for parents and guardians.

Male and Female child to adolescence usually explore and exploit things around them, they may want to learn new things and would like to try adventure and experiment on something. Especially among teen agers who have not found love and acceptance in their family may find it easy to be involved in many illegal activities and vices. During the early development of a child up to adolescence they may need a thorough attention and care and guidance so that they will not be involved in dangerous actions and peers.

As we may perceive it to be during the development period, he or she is no more a child not yet an adult, therefore in their mind resides a complex blend of ages to look back or move on. Again during this period their physical, emotional, social and spiritual level of maturity is just simply developing and not fully developed. Sometimes they may feel agitated and irritated without reasons that is why at home and in school or anywhere else, they should be treated well and understood.
