IT Paper

The Knowledge-based systems that was developed and introduced to the society and to the world, provides the customers satisfactions in the field of education and marketing.

Evidently, the knowledge based systems are very useful to the students as well as for the professors because it enables them to find and familiarize the topics or lessons they needed in their studies through searching the net. It enables them to develop their skills and imagination on involving in multimedia technologies. It makes the work of the student easy to access and easy to examine by the teachers. It makes their performances easy to review and easy to correct.

In terms of marketing, managers, suppliers and business partners, etc. the customer service plays an important role especially when using the knowledge-based systems are the primary reason why there are such companies with managers in it, suppliers and business partners built and developed. When you say customer service, it tackles with managing information, service requests, and the relevant constituents like contact center agents, field service technicians, support specialists. All of them are using the different knowledge-based system according to their tasks and responsibilities in order to improve their interaction with the different customers in their area of coverage and to enhance their knowledge and techniques in handling the sales growth of a certain company. The importance of having a knowledge-based system in a certain company is to ensure that the needs and expectations of the customers must be satisfied and fulfilled. On the other hand, managers, use a certain kind of system in order to protect the interest of the company’s benefits. In using the knowledge-based system it was a wise decision for the different users to adapt this kind of modernization, because of its appropriate criteria and rules in enhancing the skills and knowledge, satisfying the needs and wants of the students and teachers in terms of education. It satisfy the companies if they had an increased of sales since they are started in using this system. TCM440: Networks in the Enterprise

Instructor:

Name ___________________________________________________ Grade _____

Sally, the IT Director for Higher Ed Inc., a pharmaceutical company, hires you as a network consultant to design a network that will support the following:

  • Two remote sites in addition to the headquarters’ office in Middletown, CT

  • The first remote site is located in Boca, FL

  • The last remote site is located in Sacramento, CA

  • Each remote site has one LAN segment that supports at most 50 users

  • There are three LAN segments at headquarters.  Each LAN segment support at most 90 users

  • There are a total of ten servers overall at headquarters and no servers at the remote sites

  • There is no need to take user growth in consideration in this case

  • Use the following network address to answer parts (A) and (B): 10.1.0.0 /16

a)    Come up with an IP scheme for each LAN segment at headquarters.  List both subnets and mask.

Class A

Net Id                = 10

Subnet Mask     = 255.255.192.1

IP Address         = 10.1.1.1

                  Net Id                = 10

Subnet Mask     = 255.255.192.2

IP Address         = 10.1.1.2

                  Net Id                = 10

Subnet Mask     = 255.255.192.3

IP Address         = 10.1.1.3

b)    Come up with an IP scheme for the LAN segment at one of the remote sites.  List the subnet and mask.

Class A

Net Id                = 10

Subnet Mask     = 225.255.192.0

IP Address         =10.1.2.0

c)    What WAN technology must the organization use if they intend to use VoIP, streaming video, videoconferencing, and real-time databases that require at least 2.5 Mbps?  Assume that money is not a problem.  Justify your answer.

Answer:

They should use SONET, or Synchronous Optical Network, because it is an ANSI standard of transmitting the different types of information like data, voice, and voice over the optical cables or “fiber optics” which is widely used by long-distance carriers. It was designed to provide communications carriers with a standard interface for connecting optical networks. It transmissions are made up of 810-byte frames that are sent out at the rate of 8000 per second. These frames contain not only data but also a number of bytes related to overhead the monitoring and management. And it operates at 51.84 Mbps, so it is very fast, which is very ideal for business organizations.

d)    Assume that the switches in the network only have 24 ports (there are no uplink ports such as Gigabit ports for inter-switch connections).  How many switches must you buy for one of the remote sites to ensure that every employee is able to connect to the network?

      Answer: 3 switches

e)    What would you do differently in regard to server placement assuming that the organization is using Microsoft servers with Active Directory (AD)?  Assume users from the remote sites mainly access file, mail, Web, voice, and database services at headquarters.

Answer:

I will object because the servers that has Active Directory is very useful the users. It provides the means for directory service clients to use one set of interfaces to communicate with any namespace, it also enables the users to gain a simpler access to namespace services by using Active in place of the network-specific application programming interface (API) calls. It defines interfaces and objects accessible from automation-compliant languages such as Java, Visual Basic, and Visual Basic Scripting Edition (VBScript), as well as from non-automation-compliant languages such as C and C++, which enhance performance. Furthermore, Active Directory supplies its own OLE database provider, and so fully supports any clients already using an OLE database.
