MODERN WITCHCRAFT AND POLITICS OF THE WORLD

There are various kinds of Witchcraft and it is still prevalent around the world, in England it may be called paganism or clairvoyance or simply toad doctor magician where the witches can use the power of diabolic faith and can use various elements to make a curse in New Zealand Makutu or Maori means witchcraft and exorcism. In Middle East they may call it white witchcraft or sorcery there are many scripture in the bible that includes Mesopotamia, Egypt and other country that has been involved in witchcraft in this area in Deuteronomy says “Thou shall not suffer witch to live”. There are many schools up to date that is practicing witchcraft in the Middle East simply because it has been popular. In Asian region Chinese is deeply entrenched with elements, astrology, exorcism often performed by older women and in the Philippines it is called “Kulam or Mambabarang”.

In Australian region they are performing magical execution. In African countries there are various belief that witchcraft is perform by Shaman, Vodoun or Voodoo they are the spiritual healer of various sickness and the curse maker. Those who are found performing such threatening act is burned to death, there are many countries in Africa that is performing such acts including Ghana, Kenya and Congo. And in America and the Caribbean there are various forms of witchcraft including wizardry, magician, Navajo in North America, brujeria in Central America, kahuna in Hawaii, pow-wow in Pennsylvania,  macumba in brazil, Santeria in Afro-Caribbean. All these are performing various arts and methods of healing and witchcraft that has a demystified demeanor and belief that their power comes from supernatural usually demonic or diabolic and against the Christian belief.

But modernization and politics has given new meaning into it researchers, doctors and psychology believed that this is a layman’s act of cultural adaptation and the belief of frugality and manifestation of lack of education and unrealistic point of view a make believe and creating a world of their own called upon the culture and there is no signs and traces comparative to misfortune. In the political arena Witchcraft is to believe that they are using this nature to force their enemy to draw back from competition or they may say that it is an escape goat of people under circumstance.

Peter Geschiere is a professor of African Anthropology at the University of Leiden Netherland he has experienced to lived and dwell among the people in Maka and Camaroon he has written in his book that the practices of witchcraft in Africa was more on a response to their modern necessity and pressure to the government to kiosk and scarcity to gain attention. Such adaption of culture to politics and business can gain destruction and warnings from other nations about their strategy to globalization and colonialism. http://www.upress.virginia.edu/books/geschiere.html.

Cherie Blair (Not Linda Blair) is a human rights lawyer in UK she is performing a bizarre practices including alternative healing subjecting her husband to nail clippings, eating the leaves of strawberry and using it to heal swollen gums. But her life is full of intrigues about her mannerism and affairs from other people she is not plain believers of practices but an intelligent human being trying to hide something including her affairs from other men or women so that the issue and controversy goes to her practices of witchcraft and mystic healing,. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/witchcraft-and-nail-clippings-the-weird-world-of-cherie-blair-507546.html. a great scapegoat.

In Africa it is widely understood that sorcery and witchcraft intention is to harm or heal humans and the witches can perform a curse to bring sickness to people and this is the practice of Zimbabwe’s Katele Kalumba former foreign minister to run away from police because of criminal charges and corruption. He was arrested in his tent displaying various magical objects for healing and bewitching. He uses such practices to make people believe in him to prolong his power in the government but he still have to face all the charges and his treacherous religious participation cannot protect him no matter what he do. http://mwakonle.blogspot.com/2007/09/witchcraft-in-politics.html

In America Christine O Donnell candidacy in the Senate last 2010 creating a rather funny and ridiculous campaign message to come up to the public just to lay blame on people that she is not a witch or she is not afraid of witchcraft and that she is just an ordinary Jane. Her character is destroyed by opposition but she responded violently in rumors and gossip and obviously it is not wise to vote a candidate for such behavior, a person coming out to the public with her self- infliction and distress about gossip of witchcraft. What can she do to serve the country if a simple sign of annoyance she cannot handle by herself? http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2010/10/politics_witchcraft

It is rather unfortunate that educated individuals are using witchcraft to harm and delude people especially those who have less education, witchcraft in politics and business is usually a strategy of greed and hunger to power and money as it may seems while some use it to depend their rights against the opportunist.
