TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Quality and Total Quality Management is two different thing where the quality focus something in general or a group of ideas and processes for the effectiveness of the workflow and or products and service regardless on positions while Total Quality Management is a systematic approach that applies largely on management functionality and methods of implementing such quality ideas to increase the productivity of their company and employees. But basically they are both focused on growth and satisfaction of the welfare of the industry they represent. They are a collaboration of the effectiveness of the system and the people who implement such quality on a continuous basis. Managers who practice the TQM will likely to influence the effectiveness of their employees in practicing the same quality techniques that they are using. It is in the management position to do such task so that they can develop highly successful people in their company. And for the employees who are influenced at work by their managers they are likely to improve the quality of work and services they rendered in their company and so the highest standard production and growth is its expected output. So Employees and Management must work together to achieved such objectives.

There are so many standard practice of Total Quality Management that the management can adopt in their workplace; they can even formulate a special type of TQM according to how or what the company needs. Basically these are some general guideline of highly successful Quality and Total Quality Management practices combined.

1.    Quality should be manage and implement in the workplace. For there are problems that may arise in any institution or organization it is good to have a viable sets of rules and regulation that can be the basis and strong foundation of the effectiveness of both leaders and employees and this should be clearly defined and implemented in the workplace for employees compliance. And there should be a corresponding leaders and supervisor to monitor the implementation of such governing rules.

2.    Adopting the changing process. – Management must be aware that sometimes they have to evolve through changing times. For instance, Computers and other technology are taught in highly developed industry not to delimit the function of typewriter. What I would like to emphasize is that there are rooms for improvement of not just employees but the quality system itself should be developed accordingly. The practice you have used before may not be adoptable for today and the value of adopting the changing process is that the company will always be in line or probably ahead of the competition.

3.    Quality is quality – Sometimes the situation itself lead the management to believe that there are temporary solutions to the problem just like the roof with a hole, what management would do for immediate solution would be to patch up the hole that usually return when it rains. If there are opportunities and resources the best quality solution is to replace the whole roof so that the solution would be permanent. This is not to say that you need to spend but then it is great. What it simply emphasizes is to solve problems permanently not temporarily.

4.     All must work together – If management has been implementing the quality and the employees does not follow what will happen? And if employees have been doing their part and the management do not, what will happen? It will definitely create a kiosk or unionization. Management has to give what the employees deserved and vice versa. Everyone must step up to make it work.

5.    Long term quality and effectiveness — Quality and Total Quality Management is not short term it should be continuous and improving although this is not a quick scheme especially for newly established business. Management and employees may come and go but the foundation of quality they have integrate on the business will become legacy in the future for the best management practice can be dwell upon the company’s mission and vision they upheld and it will continue as the company grows. It is easy to identify such company who practice the long term effectiveness of their system through quality and total quality management. These companies last longer and they will continue to grow effectively. Just like the work of many great individuals like Albert Einstein and Thomas Alba Edison. And their works has created a great impact more than to the business but to their costumer’s and to the world.

It is therefore an imperative for every company to practice Quality System, Services, and Production etc. In whatever organization they represents, the satisfaction and consideration of customer and employees is a must, added to that is the Total Quality Management practice which simply implies a long term success of the company.
