The rationale then, is amiably investigate the challenges and issues of innovation and entrepreneurship of secondary students in Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica, to provide imperative ways and actions to take account of education processes despite several challenges imposed by the modern education curriculum. In general, the research will examine innovation and entrepreneurship upon its sense creation and how the students can avoid certain lack of knowledge and understanding of the latter as perceived. Specifically, the objectives of the research are the following:

Ideally, a major source of technological advancement has been good result of several innovators and entrepreneurs working independently of large industrial corporations and government laboratories. It is alarming to know just as how little is being taught about school subjects relating to such innovation and entrepreneurship. Educators know that something should be taught, but in general teachers are confused as to just what should be taught and how to teach the subject matter. Since the development of human resources through education is a key element in any society, elementary and secondary schools must broaden their focus to prepare students to become active and effective advocates of the technological based society (Acs, Arenius, Hay and Minniti, 2005; Fagerberg and Verspagen, 2003) There is growing need to teach the fundamentals of innovation and entrepreneurship, to develop new ways to produce better trained and literate secondary students in Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. While research material have focused more about innovation and entrepreneurship, the purpose is not necessarily to produce entrepreneurs, but rather to produce equipped students  better prepared to enter workforce soon. By providing students with exposure to the business world prior to graduation, they are better prepared for job positions. The vast majority of students will not go on to create new businesses, but the experience is still worthwhile as students bring to innovative and entrepreneurial skills set into potential ways (Acs, Arenius, Hay and Minniti, 2005; Fagerberg and Verspagen, 2003).

Potential Difficulties (Key contacts, activities)

It will be difficult to interview/contact key people from Jamaica who are part of school leadership, member of examining team, syllabus developer, teachers and students. To gather sufficient information will be time consuming due to the delivery date of the dissertation.  Travel cost to Jamaica for the interview will also be a factor.
