HUMAN RESOURCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE TOURISM SECTOR IN LIBYA


 


            Tourism in Libya is still a new venture but is constantly in progress. Every year, 130,000 travelers visit Libya. The country gets most of the tourists because of its Greek and Roman ruins and Sahara Desert landscapes.


            Libya has a number of hotels randomly located in the country, particularly in Tripoli, Libya’s capital. According to a news article, Libya is seeking to develop its tourism sector primarily through attracting increased levels of foreign direct investment or (FDI);  Libya’s government has high hopes in the future, that tourism will become the second largest industry.


            Libya is currently increasing its investment to tourism to attract more tourists. One of Libya’s big firms invested 1.2 billion dollars in the construction of tourist’s complexes near the Egyptian border.


            In line with this goal, this study would like to contribute on finding ways to improve the tourism industry in Libya by looking into the Human Resource aspect of its tourism.


            This study is interested in the Human Resource Training and Development of the tourism sector of Libya. This study will conduct in depth research inside the tourism department to be able to actually observe the training and development programs implemented to its human resource. This study may give out questionnaires to visitors who visits the Tourism Department to be able to gauge their satisfaction on the people who assisted them in the tourism department.


            The questionnaires will be standardized in order to get uniform answers. This study will  be beneficial to Libyan government as a whole.
