INFORMATION POLICY & LAW
Discuss the implications of ONE of the following laws for the role of the information professional:
Data protection
Freedom of Information
Copyright and intellectual property
You may choose any appropriate focus for the law you have selected, e.g., the implications for the information professional of copyright law in an academic library, or of data protection in an SME in which you are an information manager. However, do not limit yourself too much or you may find it difficult to complete the assignment (e.g., do not simply focus on data protection with respect to web sites).
You will be expected to demonstrate some knowledge of the specific law itself as well as the aspects of the organisation’s operations which are affected by the law. You should also ‘set the scene’ by briefly describing your chosen context.
