Distance Education

1.       Education as the proponent of social change is undeniably evident among the aforementioned theory. With the concept of globalization that is extremely influential to the present times, social changes brought about by distance learning and education as a whole is observable. The traditional applications and approaches towards things are now modernized and create innovative results that may affect the former in a positive or negative way.

2.       The school itself has created barriers that shelter and isolate it from the work of the world that goes on around it. The technological innovations that are pervasive in the business world have yet to penetrate the classrooms except for a single computer in each classroom that the teacher barely knows how to use.

3.       Today, with the advent of contemporary technology and development, conventional teaching of agriculture is also an issue. Hands-on training inside and outside the classroom and mere theoretical frameworks discussion no longer does the job. During the 1990′s,”distance education becomes an increasingly important way to make cooperative research and extension resources accessible”

4.       Distance education/online education is a method of teaching in which the students are not required to be physically present at a specific location during the term. Actually, this type of education is considered a nontraditional type of education. Most often, regular mail is used to send written material, videos, audiotapes, and CD-ROMs to the student and to turn in the exercises; nowadays e-mail and the Web are used as well. Often students are required to come to meetings at regional offices on specific weekends, for example to take exams. Distance education is offered at all levels, but is most frequently an option for university-level studies. Full time or part-time study is possible, but most students choose part-time study. Research study is possible as well.
