Contemporary Issues in Hong Kong Tourism

Introduction

Tourism industry is the type of business that considered as the driver of the economy. Competitions increases rapidly and adds pressure but the leaders are keeping themselves eyeing for the best position that can give them competitive advantage over the other. For most of the practice involved in the tourism, unique products and quality of service makes a difference. From the broad aspect of tourism which includes hospitality, airlines, tour programs, and others, we can see that there are improvements and there is no stopping. This will give us the idea that there is a continuous progress. However, aside from creating various customer relationships and targeting the potential customers, the tourism industry also faces contemporary issues that need to be address and more over, needs to be solved and answered.

Hong Kong Tourism

The industry of tourism has a different nature. From the airlines and aircrafts, hotels and restaurants, and tours, the services and products that they sell are completely different but all of their efforts are completely focused on their customers. Being specific with the needs of the customer is a great advantage for the tourism companies but building a relationship may be difficult because there are threats that might come from the other competitors. There the issues that needed to be addressed are the following:

First is the continuous promotion of the tourism through the use of media and Internet. It is already part of the business that Internet makes the transactions easier and in favor for both organizations and customers. Through the use of the marketing knowledge, the tourism on the country, not only in Hong Kong but actually in other parts of the world, will be introduced widely. The traffic that it may cause of the “search engines” is a great opportunity for a certain business to start its promotion. The problems that will arise in this area are the security features, the issue of infringement, and the right to own a certain site.

Second is the issue of climate change. Most of the countries are attempting to reduce the emissions of carbons and in the investigation, it is stated that the aviation industry which includes the aircrafts and other air transportations are affected. It doesn’t mean that the airline industry should minimize the travels rather; it suggests that they should use alternate fuels wherein the engines can still perform the same but minimizing the contribution towards climate change.

Third is the quality service which is also a traditional issue in tourism. Because the market are commonly composed of business and leisure type of people, there is no wonder that the people might experience other services that might exceed on their preferences or did not met their expectations. Although this is a simple matter, still the difficulty is based on the “quality”. Apparently, there is no context that can explain the true nature of customers because changes always happen. Therefore, it is advised that the management should adjust. Tourism service providers can be found in food service, lodging, clubs, theme parks, or travel-related businesses. Overall, this requires interaction with guest no matter what the position or nature of the operation. A quality customer service action plan is need to generate success.

The growth of services employed most of the citizens of America and Tourism is one of the services that contributed progress on their economy. No doubt that it will be the most important economic activity. Aside from the contributed employment rate, the special nature of work in the service sector is totally different from the other sector. A service is indeed, described as a deed act or performance. Working in the hospitality industry, like in the tourism sector, involves many different strategies to craft the services to meet the needs of individual customers. To proceed with the quality of service, the fourth issue should be the characteristics of the service and its delivery system. For instance, this can be about the training and development of the people and the customization.

Conclusion

By discussing the issues related in the tourism industry, the leaders as well as the government can have the idea on what would be the best thing to do to achieve the full potential of the industry. In addition, the focus of professional services requires extensive training to develop the requisite skills and judgment needed for satisfactory service delivery. The encounter between the customer and the service contact personnel can determine the appropriate customer needs and in return satisfying it; and this is true in the hospitality industry.
