(For the tuition waiver)

June 13, 2006

Dear Sir/Madame:

This letter is with regards to my intention of continuing my masters and securing a tuition waiver from the university. I intend to continue my business studies by taking up an MBA program and I believe that receiving a grant for a tuition waiver will greatly help me in achieving this goal. There are several factors that support my belief that I deserve to receive the much coveted tuition waiver from the Florida Gulf Coast University.

My name is …, 24 years old, and an international student from India. I aim to finish my studies in order to help out my family. Last year, a terrible tragedy caused by a strong monsoon affected the country, causing my family to loose most of what we have, including the business that we have established. Though my parents are both working hard to bring the business back, it will take considerable time and resources to operate it again. Other businesses in India are still working to stabilize their operations; however, the people are still finding ways on how to rebuild them. Through the tuition waiver, I would greatly assist my parents to put up the business once again by saving on my educational funding.

The tuition waiver offered by the university will also help me to secure better jobs once I graduate. I believe the education the university can provide me will pave the way for better work opportunities for me in the future; I would like to use this chance in order to assist my family in India. The tuition waiver will also increase my chances of finishing the MBA program, thus, enhancing my competence level once I enter the highly competitive world of the business sector.

I believe that I also deserve to receive a tuition waiver as this would support my interest for business studies. Specifically, I have already completed one semester of the MBA program last year where I was able to attain considerably high marks from all subjects that I took. When I was taking up my bachelor’s degree, I was able to have an average of 3.95 out of 4 grade points. This clearly indicates that I am a person who is deeply affiliated to my studies; hence, I would not waste any educational support that will be granted to me.

I am an aspiring business student who aims to help out myself and my family by finishing my masters program. The tuition waiver will then help me in achieving these goals and I intend to use the waiver to its full use should this be given to me. Thank you very much for reading my personal statement and I would be very grateful if you would grant me the educational support the university is offering.

Thank you very much.

Respectfully Yours,

(For the graduate assistantship)

Dear Sir/Madame:

This letter is with regards to my intention of continuing my masters and securing a graduate assistantship from the university. I intend to continue my business studies by taking up an MBA program and I believe that receiving a grant for an assistantship will greatly help me in achieving this goal. There are several factors that support my belief that I deserve to receive the much coveted graduate assistantship from the Florida Gulf Coast University.

My name is Sejal Shah, 24 years old, and an international student from India. I aim to finish my studies in order to help out my family. Last year, a terrible tragedy caused by a strong monsoon affected the country, causing my family to loose most of what we have, including the business that we have established. Though my parents are both working hard to bring the business back, it will take considerable time and resources to operate it again. Through the graduate assistantship, I would greatly assist my parents to put up the business once again by saving on my educational funding.

I believe the education the university can provide me will pave the way for better work opportunities for me in the future; I would like to use this chance in order to assist my family in India. As I gain more entrepreneurial knowledge and skills from the MBA program, I will be more competent once I enter the highly competitive world of the business sector.

Specifically, I have already completed one semester of the MBA program last year where I was able to attain considerably high marks from all subjects that I took. When I was taking up my bachelor’s degree, I was able to have an average of 3.95 out of 4 grade points. Furthermore, when our family business in India was still operating, I was able to expose myself to actual business situations and issues. Through these experiences, I was able to obtain useful skill that cannot be taught by textbooks alone. Specifically, the real work experience I gained in our family business taught me how to manage people, deal with customers, monitor sales and supplies and negotiate with suppliers. These clearly indicate that I am a person who is deeply affiliated to my studies and chosen course; hence, I would not waste any educational support that will be granted to me.
