IMPACT OF IT ON HUMAN RESOURCE AND ORGANIZATION

[i]Information Technology or IT, according to a website, is the acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information by a microelectronics-based combination of computing and telecommunications.

Information Technology drastically and meaningfully influences strategic decisions and alternatives. It generates opportunities and concerns that decision-makers need to deal with in almost all facets of the business. New opportunities are created by the onset of Information Technology.  Prominent among these opportunities are its effects on product innovation and services. Before, services and transactions were delivered in person. Today, it can be delivered thru networks.  This offers numerous benefits and advantages to an organization.  Information and data are immediately available in a number of systems. Simultaneous use of similar data base processes is possible. It offers a 24/7 daily service to users. It brings products and services more accessible to users. Information can be used for several purposes. Recent types of IT are giving rise to important variations that data are processed  in between group wares, suppliers and customers. It speeds up the growth and expansion of more pioneering and  accessible practices in any business culture.

However, as information technology is deemed powerful and influential, experts and surveys note that various new IT systems are not developed based on the needs of a department or group ware, or it does not address all necessary requirements and specifications of a group. If this happens, the system fails as users will not accept the system.

Information technology maintains the  processes of  routine systems  along with management processes. It offers more efficient methods of availing information from different sources, as well as sources from external data on databases and internet. It can improve decision-making processes in a “meeting room environment” but a professional facilitator versed in this aspect of information technology is needed to aid the group in a structured discussion technique.

Along with the required organizational, administrative, and other conventional skills, users need to know best how to maximize data in information technology for sourcing, accessing, and connecting and communicating to other users. To do this, a manager proficient in his or her respective discipline and in Information Technology is a must.

Since Information Technology reduces the consequences of the problem of distance, different opportunities for workplace reorganization and restructuring are provided. In its most fundamental level, it can offer more office flexibility. As wireless personal computers and Computer Telephony Integration are more and more established in companies and businesses, desk sharing and location independence are being allowed. It also allows work teams to be dispersed and spread out allowing travel and relocation savings on cost.

Information technology  combines the elemental human resource management activities along with its  discipline and principles together with the field of information technology. In this,  data processing systems are programmed into uniform and consistent routines. To reduce the extremely manual and routine workload such as the selection and evaluation processes of hiring, payroll schemes,  tracking personnel data as skills, accomplishments, and salary history, businesses started to automate electronically these systems processes through Human Resource Management Systems.   This system also takes into consideration work time, training or the Learning Management System, Benefits Administration and employee self-service.

The module used on payroll processes collects personnel attendance record, computes deductions on taxes, attendance, and other mandated employee contributions, creating payroll slips and other financial reports. In the module utilized for work time purposes, efficiency rates versus analysis of costs and expenditures are its most important function. The module on benefits administration includes wage compensations, profit sharing  or incentives if any, insurance, and retirement benefits.

Human Resources Management module encompasses the hiring, positioning, performance evaluation, benefits, training and development of the employee. Currently, recruiting online is used by human resource departments as a primary source of manpower sourcing. Training modules permits training, costs and schedules to be aligned to performance metrics. The module on employee self-service permits any company personnel to inquire on limited human resources data. For example, they may access their personal record on the human resource system themselves.
