Unit Overview

This modules aims to provide students with an understanding of how human resource management can contribute to improving organizational performance, examining these issue in an international context.

Assessment:

The assessment for this module is a group assignment; the groups will be the same as for NBS8071 Managing Across Cultures. There will be four of five students in each group.

The assignment requires you to analyze Human Resource Management policy and practice in five areas-recruitment & selection, , performance management, compensation & benefits, and employees relations.

Topic:

To compare HRM policy and practice between China and UK

a)     A general section, to which ALL group members have contributed, giving the background information on the company OR countries. Maximum word count: 2000words.

b)    Human Resource Development in China and UK. Maximum word count for each section: 1000words.

Marks will be allocated as follows:

a)     the general section will be marked out of 40, and each member of the group will get the same mark UNLESS the group stipulates that there has been unequal contribution i.e. that one or more members of the group have NOT contributed to this section.

b)    The individual sections will be marked out of 60, with each student receiving the mark for the section s/he wrote.

Your final mark for this assignment will be the sum of the tow marks. In this way, students can be rewarded for individual work of a higher standard, but all group members have an incentive to collaborate effectively in producing the report.
